A mystery surrounding the removal of sand from the beach in the El Molins and Cala Azagador areas of Les Marines, Denia last week by an unannouced convoy of lorries, turned out be a public works project to redistribute sand along the long stretch of beach. The work, a spokesman sais, had not been carried out for several years and the build up of sand in these areas was beginning to encroach on the paths and roads in the area.

The sand is to be distributed in areas where erosion has occured.
