15000 cubic metres of sand is to be moved from the Levante beach in Benidorm to the Poniente beach.
This would make the Poniente beach wider and cover rocks in an area known as El Llosar.
Another 500 cubic metres will be moved to Cala Ti Ximo.
The sand being used was uncovered from beneath the old N332 where work on restoring the promenade is taking place.
The sand was earmarked for Denia but it was agreed that mixing the sands did not meet hygiene regulations.
Work on the Levante beach will ensure that it is ready for the influx of visitors in July.
