The smaller villages such as Jalon and Pedreguer have had problems with petrol supplies , often running out completely.

This has caused great concern and made people very wary of making unnecessary journeys.

Supermarkets have seen a rush for fresh produce. One branch of Mercadona was completely out of meat , fish, eggs , fruit and bread by Tuesday. Other supermarkets could close by the weekend if there are no deliveries by the weekend.

Many distributors of fresh produce might have to throw their products away if they are not delivered due to spoilage.

One supermarket manager places the blame on panic buying on the part of the consumer.

Hopefully things will soon be back to normal.
