30 people had to be rescued from a TRAM train on Tuesday after it was derailed between Benidorm and Altea.
The ac cident happened just as it was leaving Avenida Beniarda station
The train left the rails and came to a halt next to a steep embankment.. The rescue had to take place from the opposite side of the embankment..
Rail traffic was held up for several hours but there were no injuries and all of the passengers were able to continue their journeys by bus.
A full investigation will be carried out to discover the cause of the derailment.
