A spokesman for the Centro Unificado party has said that his party is in favour of La Xara breaking away from the control of Denia town council.
However this will not take place until certain conditions are met.
The current La Xara council have been shown examples of other towns in the Valencia region that have gained autonomy but he warned residents that in order to achieve this a number of measures and infrastructures had to be put in place to guarantee social and economic development.
