Safety and a Calpe School

The parents association of Calpe’s five public schools are concerned about plans to open the Nou Paternina school after the summer break.

They say that the school does not meet even the minimum safety requirements.

It appears that the school has been built on an uneven piece of land and because of this an 18 metre high retaining wall has had to be built. They say that this wall is already crumbling and they fear that it may collapse.

There seems to be inadequate insulation , insecure stairs and a lack of safety barriers between recreation areas . Some of these areas are 5 metres above others.

Parents have said that they will not send their children to school unless these matters are addressed.
