There are 37 development projects in the pipeline in Benissa and according to a spokesman from the PSPV only 12 of them can reach completion because of a lack of water.

The five well which supply the town can only support 1670 homes out of a planned 2300.

According to this spokesperson the only solution would be to channel desalinated water from the plant in Javea. A plan which is backed by the PSOE in Calpe and Lliber.

If the water channel from Javea is agreed then all of the projects can be completed.

The mayor of Benissa has been in contact with his Javea counterpart to discuss this possibility.
