On average foreign tourists( mainly British ) spent 6% more during the first quarter of this year on the Costa Blanca. This information was released by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism.
The general downturn in the economy does not seem to have affected the tourism industry so far.
Around 900 million euros was taken by the tourism sector.
On average each tourist spent 95 euros a day. This figure represents travel , half board hotel , plus the costs of drinks , gifts etc..
On a national level there has been a similar trend showing a 6.2% rise.
Secretary of state Joan Mesquida says that at the moment tourism is managing to cope better than other sectors..
He says that current projections show the year being similar to last year.
