The PSOE opposition has asked the mayor of Benidorm to request regional government to extend the newly opened Alicante to Benidorm tram-trenet link to include a line direct to Valencia.

They feel that such a direct link to the capital would benefit everyone.

If the 37 kilometres of track between Denia and Gandia is included then it would enable Benidorm to connect with other cities such as Barcelona.

The forecast for extra visitors with the Alicante link is 500,000 people , with the extra link this figure could be doubled.
