A virtual reality installation at the Elche Palaeontology Museum has doubled the number of visitors to the museum since June .

The machine recreates life as it might have been 500 million years ago.It has artificial intelligence and three dimensional mode .

Visitors use special glasses for their journey through the primordial sea , amongst the plant life and strange creatures .

A giant underwater prawn interacts with the audience and was a predator of that time .

The museum director feels that this initiative could enable them to challenge for the European museum award in 2010.
