Land for construction purposes will be reduced by 60% under the new general town plan ( PGOU ).

The initial draft for Gata de Gorgos was approved this week .

This reduction in land classified for building also involves an increase in green areas and is geared towards avoiding town planning speculation and excess construction by means of the controversial partial development projects .

Land reserved for council housing totals 30 % of the total, which is 10 % higher than the obligatory amount set out by law.
