The mayor of Benidorm has appeared on German TV .
He was interviewed in his offices by a film crew that had travelled from Madrid .
It was all part of a programme discussing how the town handled its urban development .
The mayor sees their methods as a reference point for others and an example of environmental sustainability.
An inspection of Benidorm’s beaches has just taken place and certificates have been awarded to Levante and Mal Pas . They were also congratulated for the way in which they continue to work at keeping the town clean ,
The awards were issued by the Environmental Education Foundation of Europe .
