A former Civil Guard attempted to kill or maim over a dozen people as they walked along the pavements of Malaga last weekend .
The man had been having psychiatric treatment and had been released from the Civil Guard 10 years ago because of mental health problems .
Two of the victims on this occasion are still in a coma and CCTV footage show the driver of the car intentionally directing his car at them .
His family maintain that it was a suicide attempt but the judge has chosen to send him to prison.
