The first plans for an extension of Javea Port were mooted in 2003 and the controversy continues .
There is a great deal of anti-expansion feeling within the c ouncil and amongst residents but it could be that there is now no choice but to go ahead .
The company who has been given the contract could claim compensation if the whole plan for 500 new moorings is scuppered .In fact the number of proposed moorings has now gone down to 300 .
Even if theĀ council puts the work out for tender again and a new company is employed then compensation could stillĀ be claimed by the original company .
It has to be proved that the development of the port is not in the public interest before it can be abandoned altogether .
So maybe they are at a stage
