Ten years ago the foreign population in Benidorm was only 10% of the total and now it is 35% of the total .
This was shown in a report published recently. The report was compiled by the local council and they say that the number of foreign residents registered is now almost 26,000.
At the same time the number of Spanish residents has fallen by 8% to just over 47,000.
The new population has seen an increase in South Americans from Colombia and Ecuador with a slight drop in other EU residents .
