The Telefoniaca yachts Azul and Negro have been launched in Alicante in readiness for the Volvo Ocean Race on October 11 . The Infantas Elena and Cristina christenrd them last week .The traditional champagne bottle was substituted for a bottle of non -alcoholic beer .

The teams that are competing in the race are putting the final touches to their pavillions which are opposite the Melia hotel. It is hoped that 1 million people will visit the village where 40 different events will take place daily .

In the port will be a replica of the Nao Vivtoria which was one of the first boats to sail around the world in the 16th century by Juan Sebastian Elcano .
