Last Wednesday the tram running into the station at Calpe was derailed and then crashed into the platform .

There were 18 people aboard the train and most of them were standing at the time of the incident and were thrown to the ground .

The reason for the accident has yet to be investigated but it is thought that the lines may have been undermined because of the heavy rain or the points were not working correctly . Ferrocaril is investigating the cause and also providing transport from Calpe to Teulada and from Calpe to Altea.
