Traffic free zones are the way to go when it comes to city centres and Orihuela is no exception .

The town centre there is due to become a traffic free zone now that the plans have been passed by the town council .

The council and police are now deciding which streets should become pedestrian only , meaning that there will only be access for emergency services , loading and unloading and residents .

Parking will be very limited , 360 spaces only and the time for use is limited and will be charged . Residents can only park from 2 until 5 and 8 until 10 pm , when shops are closed . Other than that special areas will be created for them .

It is planned that a bus service will take shoppers from the outskirts of the town into the town centre .
