When you are inland from the coast and your village is next to a pine forest then you might have concerns about fires .
The village of Pinar de Campoverde is such a village and they have concerns about the time it might take for a fire-engine to reach them from Torrevieja or Orihuela .
The villagers have come up with the idea of having a volunteer fire brigade . These people would control the fire until the professionals arrive at the scene .
The town hall is enthusiastic but not willing to contribute very much but there is the possibility of some training .
It appears that a similar scheme is running in Benitachell where they have had a fire-engine donated to them from Germany .
