They have almost 5,000 signatures on their petition and now they are taking their case to the European court Petitions Committee in Brussels to try and stop the regional government expanding Javea port .
Every Sunday there will be the availability for more people to sign the petition .
Those protesting say that the expansion wouls cause irreversible damage to the coastline and the environment in general .The beaches would also be damaged plus Cabo de San Antoni marine reserve which is listed as a European Union site of community interest and therefore a EU protected zone .
Access to this remodelled area do not seem to have been thought about and the roads to the area are far from adequate.
Residents feel that the money should be spent on things that people do want for the community .
