Two villages in the Marina Baja do not want to have the rubbish from the whole region burned on their doorstep .
The villages of Torremendo in Orihuela and Zeneta in Murcia are in hope that the European Union might intervene and stop the planned project .
It appears that an environmental impact report was not done before the plans were approved .They are arguing that the adjudication of the project in June is invalid as there was no such evaluation included in it .
There is a EU directive which covers such eventualities , making specific reference to waste management .
The town halls that make up the consortium postponed a meeting this week to enable them to study the accusations and will reconvene the meeting fairly soon .
