Another Costa Blanca town is aiming to encourage their citizens to save their cooking oil to help the environment .

Alicante is about to set up six areas where tjhe recycling of domestic cooking oil can begin .

The beach , city centre , San Blas , La Florida , Benalua and Carolinas will have 30 special containers for collecting the oil .

The council aims to collect 30,000 litres which will convert into 15,000 l of bio-diesel fuel and also prevent the contamination of 30 million litres of water .

This is the first major recycling scheme in the town . The installation of the containers will begin this month as soon as a contract has been settled with the company that will process the oil .

The actual cost to the council is zero in return for this company to collect and process the oil.
