It has now been proposed that a viaduct should carry the AVE high speed train through Callosa de Segure . This is the U-turn being made by the ministry of public works .

This is part of a series of changes being suggested to the project , which was firmly rejected by both the residents and town hall of the municipality .

The mayor is going to set up a meeting with residents to ensure that the new proposals meet with their approval .

There was another suggestion that the train could travel through a deep gully which could later be turned into a tunnel . This however was deemed too expensive .

The Ministry has made it quite clear that the train will travel through the Sierra de Callosa and that decision is not negotiable .

The expropriation process is now set for the end of January , after both Callosa and Orihuela refused to participate .
