Spain has come a long way since 1977 when the first democratic elections were held .However it only takes a few to make one realise that there are those who have not encompassed the constitution or the law as it relates to certain situations and this has been shown by a man who is supposed to uphold the law , a judge from Murcia .
The country has a constitution and has laws which uphold that constitution .Spain’s standing in the world has risen and risen over the years but as with all progress there are those who still live in the past and those who wish to follow an ideology which is narrow and bigoted .
This particular judge refused to allow one member of a lesbian relationship to adopt her partner’s daughter because of her ” sexual orientation “.
A judge must run his court and make his decisions by the law book which he has sworn to uphold when appointed to his government state position .
The judge has been found guilty for this act and he has been suspended and fined . He is now appealing against this decision.
Every judge has to uphold the law and the Spanish constitution , otherwise they should not be placed in such an exalted position . If laws are wrong then they need to be changed through the correct procedures .
The Spanish constitution clearly separates ” Church”and ” State “and since 2005 it has been the law that homosexual couples have the same rights as heterosexual couples in terms of marital status and adoption .
