Balearics To Fine Two “Low Cost Airlines “

They haven’t named the airlines yet but the Balearic Consumer Ministry is going to fine these two companies because they are contravening their advertising themselves as ” low cost ” airlines and they are not .These people are charging their customers for carrying their luggage in the hold .When you pay this fee each way on your flight then the cost of the airline ticket is very little different from other schedule flights .

It appears that each passenger should be able to carry between 20 and 30 kilos of luggage in the hold within the price of the ticket and charging extra for this is illegal .

At the moment the fines are being levied at national flights bt the Balearic Consumer Board is now communicating with all other countries who fly in and out of the Balearics and asking them to look at the same issue in an effort to stop the practice .The Consumer Association has been investigating this issue at check in desks for the last six weeks .They have also been looking at the fact that when tickets are purchased on line from up to 18 different companies , Balearic citizens are not being discounted to the mainland as they ought .
