The town Council in Alicante is fed up with the way the city looks in terms of rubbish and graffiti.They are about to spend 75,000 euros on doing something about it .They are going to employ a ” graffiti handwriting expert ” who will analyse the writing on many of the walls and he will try to identify them and the council will then bring them to justice for vandalism .
They will also have an advertising campaign to bring all of the issues to the attention of the general public .Alongside this there will be street theatre which will depict the ways in which people behave and hopefully through making people laugh it will also make them reflect on their own personal behaviour .
Those who are found contravening the law of dropping litter and vandalising their town will be prosecuted and fined by the police .Fines for defacing buildings stand at 750 euros .The street theatre begins on June 6 and the Graffiti expert should be in situ in the town hall very soon .The idea is to get citizens to be proud of their town and want to make it attractive to others .
