If the credit crunch continues then there could be 20,000 more unemployed in the Murcia Region .Banks are not loaning money and builders more than anyone needs to have this flexibility with loans .This has come from the president of the regional association of builders FRECOM .
It seems that builders are not able to start work on 3000 state -subsidised houses ( VPO )which had been approved by the regional government because the banks will not give them loans .This project would employ 2000 people .Last year the number of properties fell by 66%.The president criticised the policy of putting public works to tender .Small and medium companies have little or no chance of acquiring the contracts .The smallest estimates are always given by the large companies and the smaller ones just cannot compete .
