Central government and regional government funding is going to be used to to give the town centre of los Montesinos , near Torevieja a bit of a facelift .The work has already started and last week the Mayor visited the site to see how things were progressing .They are in the process of creating a pedestrianised and hopefully more welcoming commercial area .It will become a more open space where cultural , social and commercial activities all come together in one place .They are going to provide what is called ” urban furniture ” , presumably these are seats and the like .The lighting of the area will be improved and what barriers might exist will be removed .

The work involves re-modelling the Plaza del Sagrado Carazon , which could be completed ahead of schedule .Pedestrianisation of Calle Virgen del Carmen will provide access to the music schooland also to the primary school .

Calle Bajo Segura is also being widened to improve access, the cemetery is being enlarged and a warehouse for municipal storage is being built on an industrial site .
