It has been one year since the Moraira -Teulada U3A on the Costa Blanca ,started and the group celebrated its first birthday last Friday at Font Sant picnic area .Nearly 200 of the 700 members attended and had a BBQ cooked by Los Leones .There was then an entertainment , a quiz and a raffle .They then presented a prize to the person involved in the most groups within the U3A and she received a rosette and a bottle of wine .The U3a choir entertained as did a guitar player and the Cameo entertainers .
A man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for the murder and robbery of a woman in La Mata , Torrevieja .The murder took place in 2006 .The Spaniard , who is from Madrid , confessed to the killing in the Elche court .The killing gave him 12 years and the robbery an extra three years .
Denia has been part of an exchange of students from the USA and Canada .They have been attending schools in the area and staying with Spanish families .Last week they all visited the Town Hall and met the Mayor .
A Moraira -Teulada couple like to help dogs and actually have about 20 .Last week they were asked to take a special pet who has health problems and they are now seeking a home for this delightful 5 year old poodle .The vet who is looking after the dog at the moment is willing to give free health care to the dog for the rest of its life and the grooming side of the business is willing to trim her every six months for free .They are looking for a really caring home for the dog , called Mopps.
