Last weekend was a netball weekend in Javea .There were teams from Javea , Torrevieja and Alfaz del Pi who were to play against teams from the UK and Marbella on the Costa del Sol .

Javea’s Sports Centre was the venue for the two day tournament .The main event was held on Saturday and all nine teams played each other in a round robin , they gained points for winning or drawing their games .A team from Croyden proved to be the strongest and their A and B teams were winners and runners up in both categories .The standard of the touring sides was high and the Costa Blanca sides did well when that is taken into account .Torrevieja came fourth , Javea fifth and Alfaz del Pi were eighth.

Netball is a game for all ages and there were teenagers playing alongside those in their teens .The award ceremony saw the trophies and medals being given to winners and runners up .There were also special awards for individuals who had played very well .These awards were by nominations from players and umpires .
