A British fireman has cycled 2,500 km from Aylesbury in England to Torrevieja on the Costa Blanca .In doing so he has raised a large amount of money for various charities ,including the Fire Brigade.He began his journey on June1 from the fire station where he works .He travelled through France ,Andorra and Spain.He arrived in La Mata to be greeted by members of the Torrevieja fire brigade,members of the Torrevieja cycling cluband a group of former British firefighters who have retired in Spain and the Policia Local as outriders.

He left La Mata on the last leg of his journey to the doord of Torrevieja Town Hall .It had taken him two whole weeks.He was welcomed by the Mayor of Torrevieja.In a speech to those present he said that it was the heat and lonliness were his major enemies on his journey as he had no back up from anyone.He had only one puncture in the whole of his ride and that was just before getting to Torrevieja.He has been staying at the home of his parents before returning to the UK by normal transport -a plane.
