The owners of dogs which have been identified as being potentially dangerous ,in Torrevieja,must apply to the town hall for a special license.This information has been released to the general publicunder laws which regulate the ownership of and the protection of animals.This was an edict which was passed in July 2008.Owners must go to the town hall to ask for the license ,with all of the paperwork indicating that the dog has had all of its vaccinations etc.
Non-compliance could result in fines of up to 750 to 3000 euros .Dangerous breeds include Pit Bull terriers,Staffordshire Bull terriers,American Staffordshire terrier,rottweillers,Argentinian dogos and others.Such dogs are also supposed to be muzzled in public places and must always be kept on a lead.
