Animals in Spain have a bad time ,is the general impression .Spanish people don’t care for animals in the same way as in the rest of Europe .This is another over generalisation .Animals are maltreated all over the world.Maybe this is also a generalisation that people who care for animals also care for their fellow human beings too .In Spain the Law for Animal welfare that has just come into effect stipulates that when it comes to bulls that are to be used for fighting and has to travel more than eight hours to reach its destination. Then it must travel in a vehicle with a GPS system and also each animal must travel in an individual compartment with air conditioning ,water and food.
With the GPS the Guardia Civil’s Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA) will be able to track the animals and check the conditions in which they are travelling. The temperatures inside the compartments must never be more than 30 degrees. The compartments are sealed at departure and should these seals be broken during transit then the Guardia Civil will detect this happening. The animals have to arrive at the bullring in the best possible condition for their slaughter.Ironic really.Animal transporters have had to pay at least 2000 euros per vehicle for the adaptations.
