In Figueres on the Costa Brava the City Council has started proceedings to check on the Francoist symbols around the town and to start proceedings for removing them from Plazas and streets.
The Bay of Roses has been accepted by the Federation of Nautical Stations to become a nautical station .Now it is only the documentation which has to be completed.There will be a financial and promotional budget .everything should be in place by 2010.
The Owners Association Empuriabrava is going to make complaints to the government about the company managing the moorings on the canals.It appears that they are threatening residents tha they will lose their moorings and they are also threatening very large fees without any legal basis.
The tourist office in San Pere Pescador was opened three years ago and now the council wants to make much better use of it to promote tourism in the area.They also want another opening into the natural park Aiguamolls de l’Emporda by opening up a whole sysem of cycle and walking paths.
The new promenade in L’Escala will open early in July after some of the final touches have been made.
Macanet Cabrenys has more than 60 family organised gardens in and around the town and now with money from central government the irrigation system using the local river will enable better care of them during the driest parts of the year.
In Almadrava de Roses a diver discovered an unexploded mine .It was at a depth of 6 metres and the navy and civil guard experts were called in to expode it .The mine was towed out to sea where the controlled explosion took place.The mine was 150kg and it is the second discovered on the Costa Brava.
The town hall of CastelloD’Empuries is investigating methods of organic farming which in the future might be developed for permanent farming in the region .At the moment they are growing chickpeas .
All entertainments during the festival of San Pere Pescador will all be free .There will be three groups plus a choir and other entertainments involving water.
