Aigues is a small Costa Blanca town inland from Villajoyosa.Last week a Dutch resident of the town was found dead on a path very close to his home.His body was discovered by an off duty policeman on Sunday morning.The man had been out for a walk and it is possible that he either fell and hit his head or he passed out and hit his head.He also suffered from a respiratory illness and this may have contributed to his death ,The Guardia Civil are investigating the incident.
The Calpe primary school which is so worrying the parents of the children who attend the school ,seems to be in a state of limbo.The Mayor is saying that there is little that he is able to do because the previous administration signed the acceptance documents for the building.It appears that it is very difficult to revoke such a document.Surely if the building is deemed unsafe then it means that the previous administration didn’t do its job correctly.Too late when a serious accident takes place and children are hurt.It is the instability of a high restraining wall which is causing the greatest concern .Parents are keeping their children away from school until the situation is resolved.A demonstration of 600 parents and teachers took to the streets of Calpe recently to voice their concers and make them public.
A new information and safety centre has just been opened at the beginning of the Camino del Faro footpath in Alfaz del Pi.It is the footpath which leads to the Sierra Helada natural park.The centre is staffed by council personnel from Tuesdays to Saturday and on Sunday by nature park personnel and it is aimed at reducing the risk of fire and to provide information for walkers.All restricted areas have also been signposted.Last year more than 150 000 people visited the nature park using this footpath.
