The ruling council in Denia is the PP and there are allegations that the council in Denia is in the pocket of the regional government which is also PP run.The Socialist opposition in Denia has now reacted very angrily to the ruling council’s decision to withdraw its appeals over modifications to the PDOU town plan just as the Superior Court of Justice in Valencia was about to rule in its favour.
The appeals were lodged by the former PSPV council after the regional government imposed changes to the PGOU.These changes were opposed because they permitted for development of over one million square metres of land which the council opposed.
They are also questioning how a former PSD councillor was able to sell over a half a million square metres of land just weeks before the regional governmentgave the OK for it to be developed.This land was sold before anyone was supposed to know what the regional government’s decision would be.This does make people question where the information was coming from.
The withdrawal of the appeal has given the green light for the developers to move in and develop the Les Marines zone and sectors 1 and 2 of the Racons area.The socialist opposition are saying that the PP Mayor does not have the best interests of the people of Denia at heart .It shows to some that the council is at the service of the regional government and that many people will make a lot of money from this decision .
The Superior Court of Justice has ruled that the reclassification of land near the new hospital to build a Spa ,was illegal and these plans have been annulled.
