From July4 to July 12 the Alfaz del Pi film festival will take place.The Mayor Vicente Arques,along with the film festival firector Juan Luis Iborra ,announced the event last week .This filmfestival has become known world wide.
This year the Faro de Plata awards will be presented to Loles Leon and Lluis Homar and there will be four new films released at the festival.Twenty films will be shown in the “short film” competition ,including five Spanish films and 12 foreign films in their original language versions.Tjhe films include twodocumentaries and four were written by local writers.
The Mayor announced that there will be around 30 celebrity stars attending on the opening night plus famous directores and producers.This year there has had to be a tightening of the belts because of the economic crisis and 100,000 euros has been taken from the budget.
The Gala event outside the Casa de Cultura usually attracts arround 3000 people and this year it will be presented by singer Raphael and Bibiana Fernandez.The closing ceremony will be presented by Luis Larrodera.
