I cannot imagine anyone who would want to drive a car in flip flops but now that the summer is here such madness can take place .Recently on the Costa Blanca a woman was stopped at a routine road check and was fined by the Guardia Civil for wearing flip flops while driving It appears that they are deemed dangerous while in charge of a car and I would agree as does the Highway Code.The UK Code stated “that all clothing and footwear should not prevent you driving the car safely”.
Flip flops are most certainly not suitable for driving a car as it is so easy to get the controls caught up in them and a friend ,who wears this footwear both in winter and summer ,removes them as soon as she enters the car and drives barefooted.Now is barefooted driving permitted by the police or would that receive a fine too ?
So Costa Blanca drivers need to beware that they have suitable footwear as the police are seeking every which way to get extra money into the council coffers.
