In Spain this year 62 people are recorded as needing special treatment for heatstroke. Most have them have been treated in local medical centres but others have required hospital treatment. One man in Alicante had to be put in a medically induced coma when his core temperature reached 42 degrees.

When temperatures are high it is vital that everyone drinks plenty of cool water, whether or not they feel thirsty.Meals should be cold and coffee, alcohol and sugary things should be avoided.Clothes should be light and preferably made of natural fabrics.Extreme exxertion should be avoided during the hottest part of the day.
