If you live in Denia or you visit Denia on the Costa Blanca then your life could be about to improve. Those who decide to commit anti-social behaviour are about to be fined fo it ,and about time too.The general public who are on the whole normal law abiding citizens have to put up with those who decide to be outside the nrms of society. They swear at people, they get drunk and become offensive, they urinate in the street, even defecate in rthe street and they appear to have been getting away with it .
Now ,if you are caught( that is the difficult bit) doing any of these things in Denia you can be fined up to 3000 euros. The fines will range from a starter of 750 euros.sadly most of the people who do these things do not have that sort of money to pay the fine.
Vandalism ,begging, street walking ( using the services of the prostitutes),mistreating animals( what about those bulls),creating disturbances are all going to be punishable by these fines.
Then comes the extreme bit of the legislation because laws generally go to far.It appears that shaking your rug from a balcony or washing your car in the street or repairing your car in the steet ,they could also be clobbered by the same fines. If the law dealt with the people who truly commit the serious offenses and did fine them or did make them do community service then that would be great BUT you can bet your bottom dollar that it will be La Senora who is shaking her rug who will be getting the fine and the bloke who urinated outside her flat will never be caught and will continue to offend. This is why people call “the law” an ass.
