A father and son from the Costa Blanca( Alfaz del Pi) have been arrested for running a prostitution ring in Albir.They own a club in Albir in what is known as “the red light district” and they are believed to belong to a gang which traffiks in Russian girls ,bringing them to spain under false pretences.The pair have been under observation for a few months after one of the girls reported her situation to the authorities.She had been promised work in an hotel but on arrival in Spain she was forced into prostitution.During the arrests the police also found quantities of cocaine and marijuana on the premises.
On the Playa de san Juan a Croatian man was arrested for purse snatching.A security guard in a supermarket on the beach spotted the man and another on the CCTV cameras robbing purses and wallets from shoppers.When the guards approached them the two fled in different directions.The supermarket staff managed to corner one of them but this man then pulled a knife in an attempt to resist arrest.He was eventually restrained anddisarmed before the police arrived.After making a statement before a judge he was released ,hopefully on bail and to be prosecuted at sometime.
There is now a mobile melanoma van visiting various towns on the Costa Blanca Last week it was the turn of Altea .Residents were able to have a check-up for free.They had their moles and skin blemishes checked out and were referred on if the staff had any concerns.
A house in Pilar de la Horadada on the Costa Blanca was crashed into by a light aircraft last week.The couple who owned the house were lucky in that they were not injured but the two pilots of the aircraft were killed.The actual pilot was killed outright at the scene and the co-pilot died an hour later.They were taking aerial shots of the house of the co-pilot as he was contemplating selling his property.
