In Teulada on the Costa Blanca the socialist opposition are demanding to know why there has been such a price hike in the building of the new municipal auditorium.The price has gone up by 4 million euros .Now that is a lot of money.The socialists are set to take legal action against the council unless there is an explanation.
Quite understandably they want to know exactly what this money is paying for.If it is just delayed work or costings which weren’t seen in the original scheme or just problems with executing the work within the schedule then the socialists are saying that someone is responsible .
The council is saying that everything is on schedule and that they are attempting to get the regional government to pay the extra costs.The original cost was 6.7 million euros and now it is over 8 million euros—that is an enormous increase and it appears that it is approved by the council.
The opposition has complained that uncertainty about the way in which the project has been financed by the regional government and the fact that the Teulada council has to come up with 2.3 million euros to fit the place out ,is causing many to question just how the project was planned and the funding assessed in the first place.
If the council cannot or will not be transparent about it all then they will go to the public prosecutor for them to investigate.
