There will be over 170 events of a cultural nature going on in Torrevieja this autumn.The events have a staggering 172,671 euro budget.The programme of culture was launched this week by the councillor for culture and the vice president of the Municipal Institue of Culture.
There will be 41 musical concerts,14 theatre performances ,six cinematic shows plus a variety of courses,workshops ,confrences,fairs and dance performances.
This announcement came just before the cast of “Simply Ballroom”,hosted by Lionel Blair thrilled audiences in Torrevieja.The success of this has caused others to bring their shows to the town.In December there will be performances of Mama Mia the ABBA musical which has been running in the West End of London for years now.
Miguel Rios will be performing on december 4 and on November 29 there will be the children’s musical”Cantajuego De Fiesta!.Art and other culture is well represented too as there will be courses and exhibitionjs from the Art School,Collection of great Contemporary Paintings,photographs,engravings,Tai Chi,Choirs,piano ,guitar,salt crafts,dance shows plus many other things which are not part of the council programme.So leading up to Christmas there is no reason for any person to say that “there is nothing going on!”
