The Spanish National Statistics Institute has informed the public that last year more than 15,000 girls and women under the age of 20 in Spain had abortions.It also emerged that nearly half a million women between the ages of 15 and 24 risk pregnancy because they are uninformed about contraception.

A former Argentine Navy  lieutenant who has Dutch citizenship was arrested in Valencia last week .He works as a commercial airline pilot at the moment and his arrest was because it is alleged he was involved in “death flights” during Franco’s dictatorship.It is alleged that drugged prisoners were dumped in the sea from aircraft.

The Spanish Senate has rejected an appeal from Entesa Catalana de Progres calling for fiestas involving animals not to be designated “of national or international tourist interest.”The Senate maintained that such fiestas were legal.They said that it was difficult to ascertain what  constituted ill -treatment.

A witness in a Madrid courtroom was asked to leave the courtroom because she would not remove her veil.The judge and the public  prosecutor said that spanish courts required the face to be uncovered.She later agreed to give evidence in a burka and uncover her face.
