The Valencia Comunidad is issuing multi-lingual leaflets for expats with all of the current information about swine flu.The leaflets will be produced in five languages and will be distributed across the region in French,English,German ,Arabic and Romanian.Health Centres across the Valencia region will have the leaflets available.

It has been estimated that there are around 800,000 non-Spanish residents in the Valencia region,constituting 18% of the total population.The Health authority is stressing that 98% of all of those who contract the  virus recover without any hospitalisation.Home treatment is the same as for normal seasonal flu,rest,drinking plenty of fluid and taking paracetamol to bring down any fever.

Up to now the virus has affected 25.5 people per 100,000 of population,an average of about 13 people in a town the size of Denia or Torrevieja.However in Spain the figure is higher with the average being 52.3 per 100,000 of population,showing that Valencia has had a relatively low level of infection so far.Only people who fall into high risk categories will be vaccinated against the infection.Annual jabs for seasonal flu have started alreadyThose who are over 65 and have any particular health problem should contact their medical centre to make an appointment for a jab.The doctors will also advise about whether someone should have a vaccination against swine flu.
