Federico Garcia Lorca was assassinated during the Civil War and his body was buried in an unmarked grave near Granada.There is now a move to exhume the body and to bury the poet in a proper grave with a memorial suitable for such a renowned Spaniard.
The family of Lorca have opposing views to the historians and want the remains to be left where they are.They initially said that they didn’t want a “media circus” to be involved in their great uncle’s memory.However it is possibly their refusal to allow this to happen which has in fact started a “media circus”.After many consultations with them they have agreed to an exhumation but with restrictions.Historians want his violent death investigated .They feel that this is something which should have been done many years ago.A crime was committed and it should be investigated is what they are saying..
Forensic scientists are currently investigating the remains of singer -songwriter Victor Jara in Chile and there has been no problem with that exhumation.
