The residents of Villajoyosa have been preparing themselves for a battle with the electricity giant Iberdrola.They have discovered that Iberdrola have plans to build an electricity sub-station near a residential area of the town and they just do not want it .
The claims of the residents is that such electrical sub-stations can cause health problems for those who live nearby.Its location would also destroy valuable agricultural land.
Iberdola’s plan to site the buildings in the Ribassos and La Forada zones of the town has seen more than 300 residents show their disapproval of the scheme.Many of the residents have read of the alleged adverse affects of living too close to such structures and they want none of it .They are also saying that Iberdrola is not providing full information about the project.The information is sketchy.In some cases the information is blatently untrue as it says that there are no houses nearby.However people have been living in these zones for a long time.
If the case does go to court then in the past the judges have ruled in favour of the residents.
