The Mar Menor and all other Cartagena beaches are to be cleaned up after the beaches have been inundated with rubbish and other debris which was washed up by the seaduring recent heavy storms.
The town hall has announced that the campaign will start with the mar Menornear the El Albuyon watercourses in Los Urrutias.The storms happened over two weeks ago but the council has been waiting for it all to be washed ashore.If the beaches had been cleaned stright away then it would have been an ongoing process .As it is they should be able to get rid of it all in one fell swoop now.Some of the beaches have been badly damaged by the storms.The regional coastal department is also touring the area to seek out beaches where a lot of sand has been washed away.
