The Prime Minister of Spain,Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero met with the President of the USA last week in the White House.It was the first official meeting between the two men.It marked the end of a period of six years of cold ness between the two countries..This was triggered by the decision of the Zapatero government to withdraw troops from Iraq during the George W Bush term of office.
President Obama and Prime Minister Zapatero told everyone that this was the dawning of a new era. when there would be close collaboration between Spain and the United states.Spain has promised to send more Guardia Civil officers to help train security forces in Afghanistan and has committed to take two Guantanamo Bay prisoners .
