The Spanish poet and dramatist Federico Garcia Lorca was born near Granada in 1898.He was murdered by Nationalists at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War,also near Granada in 1937.His body was buried in a common grave and until now it has never been found.
Six common graves have been discovered near Granada and it is believed that one of them could be the grave of the poet.The Andalucia Geophysics Institute has been scanning the area and has picked out these tombs which will be excavated straight away.
The descendents of Lorca are saying that they would prefer that any remains were not initially identified.Lorca was part of a group of writers known as the Generation of ‘27 .He was a poet and a playwright and his works have become internationally known.He is most certainly one of Spain’s most famous dramatists.
